On February 27 & 28, 2016, FIU's Asian Studies & Modern Language Programs, Japan Club, Geek Culture Club along with the Japanese Consulate in Miami held a two-day event dedicated to Japanese Traditional & Pop Culture! People played games or entered a contest to WIN Prizes!! Attendees enjoyed tea, onigiri or taiyaki while listening to J-pop or Taiko drumming and so much more.
The annual Southern Japan Seminar (SJS) promotes research and educational activities of Japan-related scholars in the Southeastern United States. This year’s event was held on Florida International University’s MMC Campus at Graham Center (GC) 150 on Friday, February 26, 2016. The event featured 7 lectures and a musical performance.
On February 12, 2016, FIU Asian Studies Program and Modern Language Department along with many guests celebrated the Chinese New Year! The celebration was held on at GL 100 from 7:00-9:00 PM. This event was free and open to the public. Chinese snacks and drinks were provided. There were many great performances throughout the night. Thank you to all who came to celebrate.
