This past Sunday at the Museum of Science and Discovery in Fort Lauderdale local Kimono designer, Hiromi Asai held a fashion show. Her show was in conjunction with the museums Asian Pacific Heritage Celebration. A few of our students/alumni were models in her show. Click more to see a video from the event. 書道 Shodō (Japanese Calligraphy) was offered at FIU for the first time this past semester. Students flocked to the class and filled it to capacity. You can see what they learned by viewing their final projects now on exhibition at the FIU Green Library, 2nd floor till mid-June. Click more to see a short video of the exhibit.

Florida Supercon is the state's largest annual comic book convention and it takes place right here in Miami at the Miami Beach Convention Center. There are always a multitude of Asian related elements; Anime & other Asian related films, Cosplay Contest, Cosplay seminars, & video games. In the past there has been taiko drum performances, kimono and Harajuku style fashion history and dressing classes.
