Florida Statewide Japanese Speech and Skit Contest
Dr. Steven Heine, Professor and Director of Asian Studies, will be speaking on the "Pathways to Zen". Other event presentations from distinct speakers include topics such as "Chinese Calligraphy" and "The Kimono." There will also be a History of Anime & Foam Sword Tournament and a Japenese Tea Ceremony Workshop, as well as a Student Life Asian Dining Etiquette Workshop and an Art Exhibit titled The Sacred Faces of Buddhism.
Asian Studies is hosting a nationwide professional development program for K-12 teachers to encourage teaching and learning about Asia this Summer 2010.

Asian Studies, along with the Broad Lecture Series housed in the School of International and Public Affairs, are pleased to announce an on-campus lecture by the Hon. Mr. Ichiro Fujisaki, the Ambassador of Japan to the U.S.
This workshop’s aims are to inform Asian Studies students about what makes a good research topic on which to conduct a Thesis or Master’s Essay and/or to take the topic you already have and improve on it. This workshop can also help undergraduates with advanced research projects.
Guest speaker, Shri R. P. Jain, Proprietor of Motilal Banarsidass Indological Publishers in Delhi, will be at FIU MMC campus to give a couple of lectures.
