2010 Fu Foundation Scholarship Winners

The Fu Foundation Scholarship is an annual competition for students with outstanding qualifications for Asian Studies, including but not limited to studies of humanities and culture, for Study Abroad travels in Asia. This award is given in honor of the late Dr. Charles Wei-hsun Fu who dedicated his life to promoting cross-cultural East-West studies.

Scholarship Recipients and Study Abroad Destination:

  • Yogesh Dongol - Nepal

Yogesh is conducting research on policy gap analysis this summer for his MS degree in Environmental Studies.

  • Jason Ehlen - Nanjing, China

Jason will be completing his MA in Asian Studies at Nanjing University. He has also received a prestigious scholarship from the Chinese government to study there and research Sino-Indian relations.

  • YuanYuan Fang - Kyoto, Japan

YuanYuan will be part of a summer intensive language program at Ritsumeikan University during the summer, studying Japanese language, culture and society, as well as interviewing Japanese students and professors for research on national identity.

  • Rebekah Lyew-Ayee - Hangzhou, China

Rebekah is studying Chinese language, culture and business at Zhejiang University this summer by participating in the China Study Abroad Program.

  • Maria Isabel Quevedo - Kyoto, Japan

Isabel is participating in the intensive language and culture program at Ritsumeikan University this summer. During the fall, she will be continuing her studies in Japan as an exchange student at Kansai Gadai University.
