Dr. Hitomi Yoshio is the new Graduate Program Director for Asian Studies

Dr. Steven Heine is pleased to announce that Dr. Hitomi Yoshio, Assistant Professor of Japanese Literature and Culture, is the new Graduate Program Director for the Asian Studies MA Program. She will work closely with Dr. Heine to help graduate students as she transitions into this new role.

Dr. Yoshio received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2012. Some of her research interests include 19th and 20th century Japanese literature and cultural criticism, Postwar Japanese literature and film, Japanese women's writing from 10th century to present, Gender studies and feminist theory, as well as translation and media studies.

As Asian Studies Program Director, Dr. Heine will remain involved with all the MA students and procedures, and will continue to do this while working closely with Dr. Yoshio to make a smooth transition.
