Penn State, in partnership with the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), offers a summer program in Shanghai, China.

The Association of Teachers of Japanese (ATJ) offers information on high school study abroad programs to Japan.

The Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU) study abroad program is a product of the strong sister-state relationship between the State of Michigan and Shiga Prefecture. Its programs are dedicated to building relationships between Japanese, Americans, and other nationalities through active learning and participation in language, culture, family life and society.

Ohio State University offers study abroad programs as well as internship opportunities in Japan. Students can study at one of four major universities in Japan: International Christian University, Nanzan University, Tsukuba, and Shoin University.

The Stanford Inter-University Japanese Language Studies Center offers multiple programs for intensive training in advanced spoken and written Japanese in Yokohama, Japan. Available programs include a ten-month program, a summer program, and a professional program.
