Tohoku Region: Rebuilding for a Better Tomorrow
|Venue:||FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus, Green Library|
Opens April 9, 2012 @ Green Library
On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Northeastern Japan, an area known as Tohoku. This earthquake and the tsunami that followed devastated the coastline, especially around the city of Sendai. Now, one year later, we look back to remember the people who died and pay homage to the strength and resilience of the people of Tohoku.
This gallery exhibit features pictures provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and is sponsored by the Consulate General of Japan in Miami. The pictures show the recovery and rebuilding of the area directly affected by the earthquake and tsunami and also highlight the beauty and culture of the Tohoku region.
