Invest in Understanding Asia's Global Influence

The Asian Studies Program at the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs prepares students to engage with one of the world's most dynamic and influential regions. Through the interdisciplinary study of Asia's languages, cultures, histories, politics, economies, and societies, students develop the knowledge and cultural fluency needed to navigate an increasingly interconnected global landscape.

With a particular emphasis on East Asia, the program combines rigorous academic study with language training, study abroad, internships, and experiential learning to prepare graduates for careers in international business, diplomacy, government, education, nonprofit organizations, and global affairs. Your philanthropic support empowers students to deepen their understanding of Asia while fostering the global perspectives essential for leadership in the 21st century.

Alumni Testimonials

See what our Alumni are saying about the Asian Studies Program at FIU.

  • My Master’s in Asian Studies and PhD in International Relations, with a focus on China’s Belt and Road Initiative and hydropower strategy, built skills I rely on everyday. Graduate study taught me to sit with complexity, question assumptions, and build rigorous arguments. It turns out that’s exactly what preparing the next generation of military strategists requires too.”

Phillip J. Guerreiro, PhD., Assistant Professor in the Joint All-Domain Strategist program at the Air Command & Staff College

  • “I earned my Master’s degree in Asian Studies from Florida International University, whose Asian Studies program played an important role in shaping my long-standing interest in Asia, geopolitics, and international economic trends.”

Gregory Bryant, Senior Director, Business Development Asia, Golden Gate Global
